Owyhee Strategic Solutions
About
OSS is a veteran owned training and security company. We teach useful skills, give honest assessments, and help people prepare for problems they may have to handle themselves.
Who we are
Experience put to work.
OSS was founded by Special Operations veterans in the Owyhee mountains. The company brings together horsemanship, mounted mobility, firearms training, emergency preparation, physical performance, and security planning.
Our team has more than 50 years of combined Special Operations experience. That background informs the work, but it does not replace clear instruction or sound advice.
We work with responsible citizens, families, businesses, and public safety organizations.
Why we do this
The first minutes belong to the people already there.
A tool is useful only when someone knows how to use it. A plan is useful only when the people involved understand it. OSS helps close that gap before the problem arrives.
Work ahead of the problem.
Training and planning create options. Waiting for the emergency removes them.
Let performance build confidence.
We teach the fundamentals, test them against clear standards, and identify the next piece of work.
Be an asset.
Useful people strengthen their families, their teams, and the communities around them.
Mission and vision
What guides the work.
The company has grown, but the reason for doing the work has stayed the same.
Help people solve real problems.
Train and advise citizens, families, businesses, and public safety organizations so they can reduce risk, make sound decisions, and act when help is delayed.
Stronger people build stronger communities.
We want individuals and teams across the country to pursue high standards and use what they learn in service to others.
A course should change what you can do.
Start with safe fundamentals. Measure the work. Add complexity when the student is ready. Leave with a standard and a plan to keep improving.
Company history
It started in the saddle.
OSS began with a gap in modern mounted training. Packing schools knew horses. Tactical schools knew operations. Few connected the two.
The Horse Soldier concept
OSS combined horsemanship, packing, mounted mobility, fieldcraft, and operational integration for professionals working in terrain where vehicles have limits.
The same purpose, applied more broadly.
The company now provides citizen and professional training, emergency preparation, physical performance programs in development, and security consulting for homes, ranches, businesses, and organizations.
